Hello everyone! For some people, functional or powertrain mods may not be something they are able or wanting to do, so today we will be going over some 6 simple cosmetic mods for the 2020+ Explorer ST. Enjoy!
Window Tint

There is a reason why window tinting is the most popular car modification. Better privacy, heat rejection, and better looks are all benefits of a tint.

Houston Speed Freaks LED Kit (2020-24 only)

The halogen rear light setup on the 2020-24 Explorer ST’s are sad and cheap looking. The reverse lights that come stock are horrific. You are better off riding the brake so you can at least see. I highly recommend Houston Speeds Freaks LED light upgrade bundle. The turn signal and license plate LED upgrade clean up the night-time look, and the reverse lights are brighter than most headlights. The LED lights are of great quality and have an great warranty. Definitely worth the price.
Forscan Changes
There’s so many different things you can do with Forscan that improves the vehicle. Removing Auto Start Stop (2020-24 vehicles only), removing FENG, enabling Bambi mode, and so much more. All you need is an OBDII adapter, I recommend the VLinker FS, which costs around $30; and the free Forscan license. My tutorial video is included above.
Custom Emblems

Custom emblems is a great way improve the look of the exterior. One of the things that is frustrating, is that the ST did not receive the black emblems from the Timberline. I love how a pair of custom emblems look. Emblem City makes a great pair of emblems if you are looking to go custom, and Ford Accessories have the Black emblems from the Timberline. The difficult part, is for the 2020-24 is you have to remove the front bumper to remove the emblem. For 2025+ cars you do not have to remove the whole front end, you are able to loosen the front grille and reach behind it to remove the fasteners for the emblem.
Black Lug Nuts

Removing more of the chrome, is replacing the chrome lug nuts with black ones. Gorilla lug nuts are a popular option, and there SKU is 96643BDX for the correct ones for stock wheels.
Pedal Covers
Coming in around $22 at time of writing, pedal covers are a popular cheap, fun modification.
Hitch Cover

There are a few different hitch covers available, the most expensive one’s ranging around $300+. There are cheaper options closer to $30 however, and they are a neat little touch.
Auto Start Stop Eliminator

On 2020-24 Explorer’s you can use Forscan to disable Auto Start Stop, but for 2025+ Explorers you can’t do that. An Auto Start Stop Eliminator is a device that disables Auto Start Stop so you don’t have to push the button to turn it off every time you get in the vehicle.
