Sway Bars Function

Sway bars are a very integral part of the suspension. They are tasked with preventing too much body roll and keeping weight distribution as even as possible. This is all to help handling, and how responsive the vehicle is. Due to the relatively large weight of the Explorer ST, suspension modifications completely transform the way this 4,000LB. SUV handles.

Aftermarket Front and Rear Sway Bars

Steeda and aFe are the two manufacturers of aftermarket front and rear sway bars for the Explorer ST’s.  The front sway bar is extremely hard to install and there is no worthwhile difference. The rear however, is one of the best modifications you can do to these vehicles.

As far as performance goes, Steeda is slightly better then the aFe but Steeda’s sway bar coating rusts out really bad in just a year or two, which is why I recommend the aFe unit.
